Birthday

The majority of human beings celebrate their birth on a regular basis. In different cultures, the celebrations vary, sometimes accompanied by gifts, others by rite of passage. Certain birthdays (sweet 16) have both cultural and legal (21 - drinking age in United States) implications. The most prominent example of a religious celebration of a birthday is Christmas, the birth of Jesus Christ. There also exist groups, such as Jehovah's Witnesses, that are opposed to the idea of honoring and celebrating birthdays.
